PS. As you have already seen, I am IF-ing again, and thanks to some efficient new styles (flat shapes are much quicker than outlines!), I intend to do this more regularly :)

Thank you, Cindy! – I had absolutely no idea, I just sent in my work for the book about books a while back and uploaded more files for another book when I stumbled over this surprise… and really, I first thought I was hallucinating when I discovered Lily there, that was a very strange moment. But I think the umbrella illustration (one of my favourites anyway) works pretty well on a spine, I wouldn’t have thought of that :)

Dankeschön!!! Stimmt tatsächlich, dabei hatte ich das gar nicht im Sinn. Und mag genau diese Filme aber so gern, dass ich grade vor Freude erröte :) – Und die Szene hat so viel Spaß gemacht, das es da ganz sicher bald mehr von geben wird.

Hej Cindy, thank you very much! There’s always secret projects (at least until they get published, usually) and I don’t show everything in here or in my portfolio anyways… just the things that seem kind of representative, and styles and figures I would appreciate to work on with in some way. This scene was just a fun experiment which I liked and has nothing to do with the other projects – though I sure do hope my clients like the new style as well :)

Yes, they do… bright colours are fun too (in a different way though), but the neutrals are closer to my heart. Pastels are the ones I struggle most with… btw, I just looked at your site, I’m totally impressed and I do love your use of neutrals and textures, your fairytalish moods and characters! Wow! Hut ab!! – And my girl is not on the Titanic (she wanted to, but then she missed it and took the next ocean liner), and she will be with her secret love very, very soon. And sure they all lived happily ever after :)

I totally agree, Iris… clients rarely go for colors that are more on the neutral tones…. :) but that’s ok, it gives us the opportunity to use them in our personal project, right? hehehe… I saw the “Titanic” underline here, and I think it is suddle enough so we sort of know it’s related, without being obvious!! :) Anyway, love the result, and in fact, love all your illo’s!! :)

Thank you very much, dear Isabelle! I was very happy with the palette as well, though I work much more colourful when for clients… the shades of grey are stil my secret loves. Speaking of secret loves: yes, I had that in mind :). And the idea of how far away places were at the time when women still wore corsets. My first title was “Titanic”, but then I just couldn’t do that to her…

Hej Cindy, so nice to read you again. You seem to have a sixth sense for when I post to IF :) – Yes, I do need to watch that movie! It’s on the list, actually. – This time (I know it’s amazing) the girl is actually new (well, two weeks ago is still shiny bright new, right?). It was great fun to work on some personal sketching again, I didn’t do that for far too long… it’s so relaxing to work in a more graphic way with less details. It makes me smile. Her intentions are clear, aren’t they? :)

Hi Iris! I like this new girl (even if she isn’t new!) The black and white palette with the hint of red lip is great and she is rather mysterious. The wind blowing around her hair and skirt makes it very dramatic, and the simple dress with corset top is great. So nice!
